Circle Labs is the company behind shapes.inc, a place to collaborate. We’re building multiplayer AI: shapes are collaborative assistants that take part in group conversations and do things with you and your people. Our next work includes helping groups set shared goals, delegate to specialist shapes and external agents, and follow progress through to completion. Making things, figuring things out, and sharing plans give people more reasons to spend time together.

We’re a small team in San Francisco. We use the product every day, talk to users, and work across design, engineering, and research.

Build the systems and product experiences behind shapes.inc, a place to collaborate with your people and shapes. You’ll own engineering problems across the stack on a small San Francisco team.

• Build and evaluate agent swarms: specialist shapes that divide work, coordinate around shared goals, and bring results back to the people working together.
• Build memory and context retrieval that help people and shapes maintain shared goals, track decisions, and pick up unfinished work within the appropriate access boundaries.
• Reduce response latency in group chats with multiple people and shapes.
• Build real-time voice and video infrastructure for calls between people and shapes.
• Ship Next.js and React interfaces for shared browsing, artifacts, and conversations, making it clear what people and shapes are doing and how others can contribute.
• Fine-tune and evaluate AI systems for consistent shape personalities and behavior, and improve routing between AI Engines.

• Experience taking a product or substantial feature from an early idea to real users, with examples of what you built and improved after launch.
• Ability to ship reliable code quickly.
• Ability to debug an ambiguous problem, ship a complete solution, and verify that it works for the people using it.
• Willingness to contribute beyond your immediate area.
• Daily use of shapes.inc and interest in its users.

• LLM training, fine-tuning, evaluation, inference, or retrieval-augmented generation at scale.
• High-performance Python services or real-time infrastructure using WebRTC, WebSockets, or streaming.
• Consumer product work serving millions of daily users, or a consumer app you shipped independently.
