About Circle Labs
Circle Labs is the company behind shapes.inc, a place to collaborate. We’re building multiplayer AI: shapes are collaborative assistants that take part in group conversations and do things with you and your people. Our next work includes helping groups set shared goals, delegate to specialist shapes and external agents, and follow progress through to completion. Making things, figuring things out, and sharing plans give people more reasons to spend time together.
We’re a small team in San Francisco. We use the product every day, talk to users, and work across design, engineering, and research.
About the role
Design how people and shapes come together in shapes.inc. You will make conversations, shared plans, and things people create together feel coherent across mobile and desktop, including the moments when multiple people and shapes are participating at once.
What you’ll do
- Own product design from early sketches and interactive prototypes through implementation, launch, and iteration with engineers.
- Design how groups set shared goals, work with shared artifacts, and follow progress from a plan to a finished result without losing the conversation.
- Make permissions and shared trust boundaries understandable: what people and agents can see, who can act, and how to review or interrupt work.
- Talk with users and test prototypes to find where people get stuck, then turn those findings into specific product improvements.
- Develop reusable interface patterns, with careful attention to typography, layout, accessibility, and behavior on small screens.
- Review implemented experiences with engineers, including loading, empty, error, and recovery states, and use feedback after launch to improve them.
What you’ll bring
- A portfolio of product work that explains the problem, your decisions, what shipped, and what you learned from people using it.
- Strong interaction and visual design skills, with the ability to simplify complex flows without hiding information people need.
- Fluency in interactive prototyping and communicating designs clearly enough for engineers to build and refine them.
- Experience conducting user interviews or usability studies and combining that evidence with product data.
- An understanding of responsive design and accessibility, including keyboard interaction, readable content, and touch controls.
Nice to have
- Experience designing messaging, social, creative, or collaborative products.
- Experience designing interfaces around AI responses, actions, and uncertainty.
- The ability to build a working interaction in code and use it to test timing, feedback, and behavior with real people.
Benefits
- Competitive pay and equity
- Health, dental, and vision coverage
- Access to frontier AI Engines
